Covid-19 – 7 Ways to Protect Yourself and Others

COVID-19
- 7 Ways to Protect Yourself and Others

According to the CDC (Centres for Disease Control and Prevention) the best way to prevent  illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus.

Since we have realized that the virus is spread from person to person, our brains are now being called upon for conscious maneuvering when it comes to socializing. Guys, my middle name is Prevention and I will do everything to prevent this virus from getting to me.

The guidelines are in place but I beg to differ on a few.

Guidelines says:

1.  keep at least 6 feet between persons but I think it should be at least 10. And if you’re shouting, or about to cough or sneeze I will instantly retreat to 20 feet or more! Always be aware of where you are in relation to another person at all times.

2. wash your hands with soap and water often or use a 60% or more alcohol based hand sanitizer. Definitely – wash your hands after touching anything and everything and avoid touching your face.

3.  cover your cough or sneeze. Please do. Cover your cough or sneeze with tissue, throw away your soiled tissue and immediately wash or sanitize your hands.

4.  masks should be worn by persons who are infected. No. I think we should ALL be wearing masks every time we leave home.  Why? An infected person could be hiding their symptoms with medication or could be asymptomatic while spreading the virus. Better to not have anyone breathing too close to me even if they are wearing a mask. But don’t worry, if you get too close, I’ll remind you.

5.  greet a friend with an elbow bump. I don’t think so. Absolutely no touching is allowed. Nodding or waving works just as well for me.

6.  stay home if you are feeling sick. I agree completely. Stay home, isolate yourself, monitor your symptoms and keep in touch with your doctor. Don’t leave home unless absolutely necessary.

7.  Clean AND disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks. Absolutely! Clean and disinfect everything you or someone else touched or used.

Let me remind you once again, my middle name is Prevention and I think the best way to protect ourselves is to treat everyone as if they have the Covid-19 virus.
